Roger Wenzel

Roger M . Wenzel , age 90 of Wakefield died Thursday December 2 in Winchester after a long period of failing health.

He was born in Melrose on December 31, 1930 and was the son of the late John M . and Emily A. (Wengen) Wenzel .

Roger was raised in Wakefield and graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1947. He was a longtime member of the Wakefield Fire Department having served from 1961 to 1993 and also served in the Massachusetts National Guard. Roger enjoyed many summers with his family at his home in Freedom, NH. He was also an Antique Car enthusiast.

He was the beloved husband of the late Jean M . (MacGregor) Wenzel . He was the loving father of Kenneth R. Wenzel and his wife Lynne of NH and Wayne M . Wenzel of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late Janet L. Heyner. He was also the proud grandfather of Kenneth R. Wenzel , Jr. and Jennifer E. Wenzel and her partner Matt Guymon and their son Kenny Guymon. He was also the step grandfather to Phoenix Bell and her husband Stanley Bigord

A Graveside Service was held at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Lynnfield on Monday December 6.
