Ronald F . Shepard , age 77, a longtime Lynnfield resident, died suddenly Thursday, May 12 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
Born in Newton on July 29, 1944 he was the son of the late George and Josephine (Goodwin) Shepard .
Ron was raised in Waltham and was a graduate of St. Mary's High School of Waltham where he was a standout athlete. He then went on to attend Saint Anselm's College where he was a member of the baseball and basketball teams and received his undergraduate degree in history and economics. Ron matriculated to Suffolk University Law School and then began his career at Sweetser and Lombard of Tremont Street in Boston. He moved his practice to Everett in 1990 and ultimately retired in 2018. Ron was an avid athlete and enjoyed coaching youth sports. Together with his wife, he loved playing tennis, traveling, and spending time at the beach. He also loved Lake Quannapowitt in Wakefield and enjoyed watching the ducks. He was an avid reader and was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church in Lynnfield. Ron's favorite thing in life was being with his family.
He was the beloved husband of Judy (Kane) Shepard . He was the loving father of Kristen Jacobsen and her husband Douglas of Manchester, MA, Gregory Shepard of Austin, TX, Michael Shepard and his wife Debra of Newburyport, MA, Jennifer Burke and husband Joseph of South Burlington, VT, and Chad Holden and his wife Victoria of Windermere, FL. He was the grandfather of Emily, Maxwell, and Benjamin Jacobsen, Audrey, Dylan, and Oliver Shepard , Shane and Kiley Burke, and Charley , Patrick, and Ryan Holden. He was the brother of Robert Shepard , Christine Yashinsky, David Shepard , Stephen Shepard , and the late George Richard Shepard . He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his former wife Jane (Ivas) McGrade.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Maria Goretti, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield on Tuesday, May 17 at 10am. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield. Visitation at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday, May 16 from 4-7pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
