Rose C . Brophy , age 107, of Winchester formerly of Somerville and Stoneham, died Thursday, September 2 at the Winchester Nursing Center.
Born in Somerville on January 11, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (McLaughlin) Brophy .
Rose was raised in Somerville and had been a longtime Stoneham resident, having lived in town since 1957. She was a member of St. Patrick Church and was active in the Ladies Sodality and Chorus. She was also a member of the 60+ Club of Stoneham. Rose had worked for and retired from New England Life Insurance Company. She loved to travel.
She was the sister of John Brophy and the late Mary Potter. She was the aunt of James and Margaret Brophy , Mary and Charles Emanuel, Margaret Toland and her late husband Daniel, the late Barbara O'Connor and her surviving husband Thomas, the late Robert Potter and his surviving wife Diane, Thomas Potter and his wife Donna and the late Richard Potter. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Tuesday, September 7 at 10am. Masks will be required in the church.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be at the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham prior to the mass from 8-9:30am. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, MA 02180.
