Rose Rivera

Rose Rivera, age 90, of Revere, MA formerly of Port Jefferson Long Island, NY passed away February 12.

Born in Saint Just, Puerto Rico she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Rosa (Marquez) Tirado.

Rose was born in Puerto Rico and moved to New York City at the age of 12 with her mother and sister. In 1952 she married her late husband, Herman, and the two began their family in Brooklyn before making their home in Long Island in 1963. Though Port Jefferson remained “home” for many years, Rose moved to Massachusetts in 2017 to be close to family. She loved crafting and was a member of the “Homemakers” crafting group of Long Island. She also loved to travel with her late husband.

She was the beloved wife of the late Herman Rivera, who passed away in 2008. She was the loving mother of Herman V. Rivera and his wife Linda of Tampa, FL and Denise A. Rivera and her wife Robin Segal of Lynn, MA. She was the grandmother of Jillian L. Ramirez of Long Island, NY.

Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, MA on Friday, February 17 from 4-8pm.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 110 Myrtle Ave., Port Jefferson, NY on Tuesday, February 21 at 10am. Followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
