Rosemarie Adler

Rosemarie B . Adler of Eustis Avenue in Wakefield died on Monday, May 26, 2014. She was the beloved mother of Ann Adler and her husband Andrew Winner of Barrington, Rhode Island and Christopher Adler and his girlfriend Jenny Clark of Wakefield. She was the wife of the late Charles C. Adler , Jr. She was the loving Nana of Charley and James Winner. She is also survived by her sister, Jo Lazzaro of Wakefield.

The daughter of the late Anastasia Ambrosini Bongo and Giuseppe Bongo, Rosemarie grew up in Roxbury, MA. She graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School, class of 1943. Immediately following graduation, she went to work at Widener Library at Harvard, where she served for 15 years, and where she met her husband Charley, who was a graduate student in Russian History. Upon his graduation, they moved to Clinton NY, where she was a faculty wife at Hamilton College.

After her husband passed away in 1970, Rosemarie moved with her children to Wakefield where she dedicated herself to her children. After many years as a stay-at-home mother, she returned to the workforce as a receptionist, at Citicorp Information Resources in Woburn.

Rosemarie was a long-time volunteer with the American Red Cross. She began serving as a "Gray Lady" at Massachusetts General Hospital while still in high school. She volunteered at blood drives for many years, accumulating over 65 years of service.
Rosemarie was a co-founder and charter member of the Lucius Beebe Memorial Library Friends of the Library, serving as treasurer and later membership chairperson.

She was a long-time member of the Wakefield Arts and Crafts Society. Over the years, she enjoyed many different crafts, including knitting, needlework and metal smith. She was also a wonderful cook and a legendary hostess.

Rosemarie's funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Watertown.
