Rosemary (Twomey) Dwyer, of Wakefield, died peacefully on Thursday, November 5 surrounded by her family. Born in Lynn on June 30, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Maurice A. Twomey and Eleanor (Waters) Twomey. She was the beloved wife of Daniel F. (Dan) Dwyer, with whom she shared forty-eight years of marriage.
A graduate of Lynn English High School and Salem State College, Rosemary taught elementary school in Lynn before starting a family. She was a longtime Wakefield resident and devoted member of St. Joseph's Church. Rosemary was an avid golfer, tennis player, and gardener. She was a generous and loving woman, who always thought of others before herself and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her many grandchildren, who will miss Nana greatly.
In addition to her husband, Rosemary is survived by her children: Kevin Dwyer and his fiancée, Jackie, of Arlington, VA, Kathleen and Chris Driscoll, of Middleton, Taighe and Nancy Dwyer, of Cohasset, Sean and Melissa Dwyer, of Narberth, PA, Meaghan and Anthony Ryan, of Lexington, SC, and Cara and Ray Johnson, of Belmont. She was the sister of Maurice A. Twomey, Jr. of Lynnfield, Donald Twomey, of Lynn, and Carole Trahant, of Danville, NH. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren: Brendan, Ian, Molly, Colin, Cait, Taighe, Brynn, Ceili, Paddy, Mairead, Cian, Eloise, and Finbarr.
Rosemary's funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Tuesday, November 10, at 10:30, followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 11:30am. Interment at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 9, from 4-8pm.
