Rosemary C. Hennessy, 92, of Stoneham died on Sunday, July 27 at the Emeritus of Tewksbury.
Born in Medford on April 19, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Cecelia (Fanning) Freaney.
Mrs. Hennessy was raised and educated in Roxbury and had been a Stoneham resident since 1955. She was a retired secretary for the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad Company. Mrs. Hennessy was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Wakefield. She enjoyed shopping at the former Filenes Basement in Downtown Boston, traveling in her retirement, collecting recipes and loved bird watching. Mrs. Hennessy was a devoted grandmother.
She was the wife of the late Lawrence J. Hennessy. She is survived by her daughter Lauren Hennessy and her companion Charles DiPerri of North Reading and her two sons; David Hennessy and his wife Jerri of Texas and Robert Hennessy and his wife Beatrice of France. Mrs. Hennessy is also survived by her 9 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother John Freaney and her sister Patricia M. Freaney.
A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield on Thursday at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 8:30-9:30am. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472
