Roy Moore

Roy M . Moore , died on November 13 at the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield.

Roy was born in Revere on May 14, 1926 and was the son of the late William and Ethel Moore .

He was a graduate of Tufts University, Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude in 1957. Roy joined the Undergraduate Admissions Staff of Tufts University 1958, retiring in 1990 as Associate Director. Before enrolling at Tufts, he was an able Seaman in the US Merchant Marine. Called into service during the Korean War, he enlisted in the Army Airborne, earning his parachute wings at Fort Benning Georgia in 1951.

After serving his country, Roy made a final voyage as an able Seaman coming home to wed his sweetheart Margaret Meuse, their courtship of 6 years consummated at last. The two were inseparable for 65 years in a love affair on indescribable devotion, companionship and togetherness that "surpasseth all understanding."

Margaret's death in April 2018 left Roy desolate, but determined to honor Margaret's caring and open minded life, her unforgettable courage and the warm sunshine of her memory. In that effort, he found meaning and a sense of purpose.

Their 59 years in Wakefield were enlivened through immersion in the political and cultural affairs of the town and the many friends they made in the process. Roy's pleasure in classical music, which Margaret happily shared, found outlets not only in the Boston Symphony and others, but in a special fondness for the Reading Symphony, a community orchestra of talented musicians whose contributions to the cultural uplift of the area they admired and supported.

He leaves his son Kenneth and daughter in law Karin of Abendroth of Asheville, North Carolina. He was also pre deceased by his son Jonathan Moore . To those good friends who loved his Margaret and helped him survive the unbearable pain of her loss, he is indebted for their comfort and understanding. A special thanks to Jim Scott, Karen Faler, Donetta Macauda and David Mason, unfailing in keeping Roy's course steady and true.

His mission in this life is complete, Roy now seeks to find his beloved Margaret. She is, as she did so long ago, waiting for him to come home to her; for this is always what she meant to be. In togetherness once more, they begin undying love's blissful voyage to a radiant and heavenly shore.
