Ruth A. Benjamin, 80, of Wakefield died on Sunday, October 26 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Wakefield on October 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Katherine (Deveau) Benjamin and stepmother Catherine Benjamin.
Ms. Benjamin was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1952. She had lived in Medford and Malden before moving back to Wakefield in 1989. Ms. Benjamin had retired from Courtyard Nursing Home in Medford as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She had worked at Central Hospital in Somerville, Grover Manor in Revere, Spaulding Rehab Center in Boston, Otis Hospital in Cambridge and Oak Island Nursing Home in Revere.
She was the mother of the late Kevin. Ms. Benjamin is survived by her brother Daniel Benjamin, Jr. and his wife Lois Jarema-Benjamin of Wakefield, her sister Marilyn Peters and her husband Reggie of Reading and her beloved friend of Susan Trzcienski of Wakefield. She was the aunt of John, Richard and Karen Peters, and great aunt of Kayla, Nicholas, Justin, Michael and Jaden Peters. Also survived by many cousins.
Her Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8pm. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of ones choice.
