S. Volpe

S . Peter Volpe , 95 of Wakefield died Tuesday December 11 in Reading. Born on April 14, 1917 the son of the late Vito & Filomena (Benedetto) Volpe . Mr. Volpe was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School and also the Wentworth Institute of Boston. He was a W.W. II veteran and served with the U.S. Navy Seabees. Mr. Volpe was the retired President of the former well known Volpe Construction Co. Inc. with offices in Malden, Washington, D.C. and Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mr. Volpe served as a Director for the 100 Club of Massachusetts, He was past president of the Associated General Contractors of MA and the Associated General Contractors of America and also past president of the Society of American Military Engineers and of the MA Building Congress. He was also a member of the Sons of Italy and the Crystal Community Club of Wakefield.

Mr. Volpe was the beloved husband of the late Armita A. (Palmerino) Volpe . He was the father of Janet V. Livesey and partner Ralph E. Grossi of Wakefield and Peter J. Volpe & wife Linda of Andover. He was the brother of the late Grace Gonnella, MA Governor John A. Volpe and Maria, Henry, Patrick and Richard Volpe . He was the grandfather of Christopher M. Livesey & partner Diane Reynolds, Mark J. Livesey & wife Monica Bortolotto, Peter J. Volpe , Jr. & partner Erin Dennehey, Tyler J. Volpe & wife Patricia Peters and Travis J. Volpe . He was also the great grandfather of Nicolas & Jessica Livesey and Paige Peters Volpe .

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield Friday at 8:30 am followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church 47 Butler Ave. Wakefield at 9:30. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Thursday 4-8pm.
