Salvatore Andronico, age 96 of Bolton, formerly of Stoneham, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022.
He was born in Dorchester, the son of Onofrio and Crocifissa Andronico. Salvatore is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Gina Andronico; their children Robert Andronico and his wife Donna, Diana Adams and her husband Richard, and William Andronico and his wife Cheryl; his grandchildren, Gina and husband Cam, Nicole and husband Alex, William and fiancé Ashley, William Jr., Jennifer and Sofia; his great grandchildren, Sofia and Liliana, and several nieces and nephews.
As a toddler, his parents moved to Palermo, Sicily where he grew up. After losing his father and the hardships of WWII, he and his mother moved to the North End of Boston in search of a better life. He initially took on odd jobs to make a living. After some time, through a family introduction, an across-the-ocean relationship with his future wife began solely by letter. In 1951, he again crossed the ocean to finally meet Gina in person and marry her. He returned to Boston and anxiously awaited his wife's arrival after eight months. Shortly thereafter, Gina's family also immigrated to Boston.
They enjoyed a wonderful beginning together in the North End. There, they started their family, eventually moving out of Boston into the suburbs. Salvatore later earned a degree from Northeastern University. He would eventually find career employment with Raytheon Company where he worked for 30 years before retiring. Throughout his career, he and Gina also invested in real estate. During his retirement years, he enjoyed painting and reading, but most importantly time spent with his family.
