Samuel A. Damelio, 76, a lifelong resident of Stoneham, and also of Cape Coral, FL died Sunday, July 10 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Stoneham on June 11, 1940 he was the son of the late Alfred S. Damelio and Stella M. (Masotta) Pesaturo.
Mr. Damelio was born and raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1958. He then enlisted in the Navy and served during the Vietnam Era. He had worked as a Sheet Metal Mechanic, first for WR Grace and then for Raytheon and Compaq. He was an avid New England Patriots fan, never missing a game, even when the going got tough. Mr. Damelio was a talented carpenter and builder as well as a creative story teller. He loved to cook and tend to his vegetable garden.
He was the father of Karen Damelio of Falmouth, Lauren Stewart and her husband Christopher of Stoneham, and Jennifer Maxwell and her husband Glenn of Plainville. He was the grandfather of Stella Noonan, Kyle and Brandon Stewart, and Gavin, Garrett, Avari, and Lydia Maxwell. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham on Monday at 10am. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, Stoneham.
