Scott DiMella

Scott A. DiMella, age 51, of Wakefield, died Saturday, July 14 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Boston on February 16, 1967 he was the cherished son of Deirdre (Dragon) DiMella of Springfield and Frederick DiMella and Valerie (Rose) of Waterford, CT.

Scott was raised in Munroe, CT before moving to Courtland, NY where he graduated from Homer High School. He then went on to graduate from UMass Amherst where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) Fraternity. Scott had been employed by TPX, formerly DSCI, for the past 18 years where he most recently had worked as a Channel Manager.

Above all things, Scott was a devoted family man, and was an amazing father. He cherished his time watching his sons play sports, even taking the time to coach both basketball and youth lacrosse. He was also an avid fan of the New England sports teams. Scott's quick wit and sense of humor left him with countless friends, even if you found yourself the target of his sarcasm. His family recalled, much like the show "Everybody Loves Raymond," everybody loved Scott. His selflessness in the face of illness was unwavering; always placing the needs of family and friends ahead of his own.

He was the beloved husband of Maura A. (Barbanti) DiMella. He was the loving father of Luke, Max, and Joe DiMella, all of Wakefield. He was the son-in-law of Norma (Burke) Barbanti and her late husband Charles of Saugus. He was the brother of Michael DiMella and his wife Cindy of Franklin and Heather Costa and her husband Mike of Dighton. He was the brother-in-law of Charlie Barbanti and his wife Laury of Andover, Michael Barbanti and his fiancé Michael Barrow of San Diego, CA, and Christopher Barbanti and his wife Kendra of Chelmsford. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his "fourth son," his cherished dog, Heisman.

Scott's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Friday at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scott DiMella Memorial Scholarship. For more information, email SDiMellaScholarship@gmail.com
