Socorso Cresta

Soccorso Cresta , 79, of Wakefield died at his home Saturday September 13.

Born in Castelfranci, Avellino, Italy on February 6, 1929 he was the son of the late Generoso & Rosina (Tecce) Cresta . Mr.Cresta came to Wakefield from Italy in 1963. A builder and mason he had worked for many years for the Charles Cardillo Builders of Wakefield and later for The Farmland of Wakefield. He had also worked for Fine Masonry in Swampscott and Ernie's Lunch in Melrose. He was a member of St. Florence Parish and enjoyed gardening, fishing, country folk music and traveling to his native Italy.

Mr. Cresta is survived by his beloved wife Giuseppa (Perillo) Cresta to whom he was married for 60 years. His three sons, Joe Cresta and his wife Rita, Tony Cresta and his wife Janet and Jimmy Cresta and his wife Tina, all of Wakefield. He was the brother of Litizia Perillo of Italy and the late Vincenzo Cresta . He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, Generoso, Angela, Anthony and his wife Laura, Jena, James, Samantha, Franklin and Erica and 1 great grandson, Bryton.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 AM. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday 4-8 PM.
