Stefania Slusarz

Stefania Slusarz, 93, of Marstons Mills and Wakefield, died peacefully on Thursday, March 19 at Putnam Farms of Danvers, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Warsaw, Poland on February 5, 1922, she was the daughter of Stefan and Franciszka Duczynski. Stefania was raised and educated in Warsaw, Poland. She was taken to a labor camp in Germany during WWII after being detained by German authorities during the Warsaw Uprising. After the war, while living at a Displaced Persons Camp in Benheim, Germany, she met, fell in love with, and married Boleslaw on July 16, 1946. In 1950, after having lived at a Displaced Persons Camp in Wildflecken, Germany for several years, they and their three year old son Andrew resettled to Hanoverton, Ohio thanks to the generosity and kindness of their American sponsor. A year later, they moved to Boston where they lived for many years, raising a family of three boys, until retiring to Marstons Mills on the Cape for the next 24 years.

Stefania was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of 66 years in February of 2013.

A funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at Noon. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home prior to the service beginning at 10am. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
