Stephen G. Brown "Brownie", of Naples, FL formerly of Reading died, July 4 at the age of 66, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Malden on May 14, 1953 and was the son of the late Everett W. Brown, Jr., and Marie C. (MacPherson) Brown.
Brownie was raised in Reading and was a graduate of Reading High School and later a graduate of Newbury College. He was a long time dedicated employee at Stone & Webster Engineering Corporation and later at Boston Medical Center Healthnet Plan. He cherished working at both locations and was deeply grateful for the relationships and experiences they provided. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed many hours and friendships at Bear Hill Country Club. During his final years he engaged in many adventures with his family including a helicopter ride, camping, deep sea fishing, skeet shooting, and sitting on the Green Monster at Fenway.
Brownie was the beloved father of Stephen E. Brown and his wife Erin of Reading, Danielle Loring and her husband Jason of Tewksbury, Jacqueline Owen and her husband Thomas of MT., and Michelle Brown of Boston. He was the loving brother of Jude Brown of Marblehead, Marta Copland of NC., Alan Brown of Wenham, and Daniel Brown of NH. He is also survived by his 9 beloved grandchildren.
His Funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading at 10:30. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday 4-8pm. Interment, Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
