Stephen Hoxie

Stephen G. Hoxie, age 77, a longtime Wakefield resident, died Thursday, June 7 at CareOne of Wilmington.

Born in Quincy on February 13, 1941 and was the son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth (Sayles) Hoxie.

Mr. Hoxie was raised in both Wollaston and Milton. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Boston University. After meeting his wife, the late Elizabeth Rose (Britner) at work, they married and made their home in Wakefield where they raised their family. Mr. Hoxie was an avid fan of the BU hockey program and was a season ticket holder and enjoyed attending the games with his friends. He enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod, watching the Boston Red Sox, antiquing, and Christmas time.

He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Rose (Britner) Hoxie. He was the loving father of Jonathan Hoxie and his wife Jennifer of Pembroke, NH, Robert Hoxie and his wife Megan of Lowell, and Elizabeth O'Leary and her husband Ryan of Holliston. He was the brother of Christopher Hoxie and his fiancée Wendy Kimell of Dennis and the brother-in-law of Henry Britner and his wife Gerry of Wakefield. He was the adoring grandfather of Jenna, Ashley, Finnegan, Albert, and Liam. He is also survived by his cherished cat, "Bubba."

His Funeral Service will be in the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at Noon. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 1-4pm. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
