Susan White

Susan Shannon White, 64 of Stoneham passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Arlington on July 28, 1950, Susan was the daughter of the late John H. and Ann E. (Cole) Shannon.

Susan was a lifelong Stoneham resident and was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1968. She was the Program Director of the Reading Gymnastics Academy and was also a USAG, nationally ranked Women's Gymnastics judge. Susan was the coach of the Stoneham High School field hockey and gymnastics teams for many years. She was a lifelong summer resident of Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Maine.

Susan was the beloved wife of George H. White. She was the devoted mother of Melissa Powers and her husband Tim of Stoneham, Priscilla Simpson and her husband Jim of Woburn, Alicia Christofi-Walshe and her husband Fred of County Wicklow, Ireland, and Marielle Christofi and her fiancé Brian Mugford of Tewksbury. She was the sister of John and Stephen Shannon, both of Maine, Christopher Shannon and his wife Jill of New Hampshire, and the late Ann Shannon. She was the adoring grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Shannon, Kelly, Sean, Jared, Avery, Camryn, Henry, and Sadie. Susan is also survived by her former husband Phillip Christofi, Jr. of North Reading; as well as, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Susan will always be remembered for her glowing smile, infectious laugh, and the love and care which she gave to all so effortlessly.

Funeral from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Monday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Stoneham.
