Syed Shams-ul Hasan , age 85, a long time Wakefield resident died peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 16 surrounded by his loving children.
Born in Udaipur, India in 1929 Shams emigrated to Pakistan before coming to America. He studied at Boston University where he earned his MBA. After graduating he met his wife-to-be Ingrid Eriksson while working at Avis car rentals in Boston. They were married in 1968 and raised their two children in Wakefield. Shams was a long-time, well-liked employee at Gillette in South Boston. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. After retiring he enjoyed gardening, tinkering and playing with his grandkids. He was always loved and will be greatly missed.
He leaves a daughter, Shamim Wright and husband Christopher of Amesbury, son Karim Hasan and wife Charlene of Chelmsford, grandchildren Kristina, Sofia and Emma along with a great number of relatives in India.
A funeral service will be held in the Universalist Unitarian Church, 326 Main St., Wakefield on Friday at 12:30pm. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Friday from 10am-12pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
