Sylvia D'Agostino

Sylvia D'Agostino died peacefully on September 6, 2023 following a brief illness.  Sylvia, aged 79, had called Stoneham her home for 44 years, sharing her life with her husband, Robert, for 55 years, having met as college students at the University of Texas at El Paso, class of '66.

During her time in Stoneham, Sylvia raised their three daughters and embraced Saint Patrick Parish until the end.  Her most cherished pastime was golfing at Bear Hill Golf Club with family and friends, even achieving the coveted honor of having her “name on the board” a few times.

In her later years, she spoke fondly of her visits to the Stoneham Public Library and the Stoneham Senior Center.

Born Sylvia Irene Tovar in El Paso, Texas, on July 6, 1944, she is survived by her husband, Robert, and her daughters: Marlena Bita, and her husband Michael, Suzanne Kelly and her husband Jonathan, and Roberta D’Agostino.
Known fondly as Mimi to her granddaughters, she will be missed by Noelle, Sydney and Jacqueline.

Sylvia is also survived by her sister Gloria Martinez and brother Gus Marquez, both of El Paso, and their families. She was predeceased by her parents and older brother.

The D'Agostino family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate nurses, dedicated EMTs, caregivers, as well as friends and neighbors for their support and kindness during these past months.

Her Funeral Service will be held in the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St., Stoneham on Thursday, September 14 at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13 from 4-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Stoneham Senior Center at Senior Center Friends of Stoneham, Inc. through PayPal or by mailing a check to 136 Elm Street Stoneham MA 02180 supporting community activities close to her heart.
