Thaditharayil Jacob

Thaditharayil Mathew (T.M.) Jacob, son of the late T. Mathew and Annamma Mathew of Mumbai, India was born in Nasik, in the Maharashtra region of India on May 21, 1936.

He graduated from Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute with a degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and worked at Greaves Crompton in Mumbai. In 1964, he immigrated to London, England and obtained a diploma in Management Studies from Regent Street Polytechnic. In 1968, he moved to Toronto, Canada and began working for Stone & Webster, an engineering firm. In 1970, he was transferred to the Stone & Webster office in Boston, MA, and was involved in the design and construction of nuclear power plants until 1995. In 1996, he began a 13-year career working as the Director - Engineering/Technical Services, for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance until retirement from his professional career in 2009. During this time, he also dedicated his free time as the Chairman of the Building Committee for St. Mary's Indian Orthodox Church, which successfully acquired a church in Maynard, MA in 2003. He was also heavily involved in Project Bread/Walk for Hunger, encouraging many people to participate and raising thousands of dollars for the cause himself.

Mr. Jacob is survived by his wife Maya of Wakefield, MA; daughter Sunita Stocking and sons C.J. and Zachary of Mansfield; daughter Meenakshi Jacob, husband Paul Rawate and son Rajan of Wakefield; son Mathew Jacob, wife Djenam and daughters Maya and Sadya, of Silver Spring, MD. He is also survived by his sister Susheela George and husband Ret. Col. T.J. George and son Lt. Col. Joseph of Pune, India; and daughter Elizabeth George, husband Dickey Abraham and sons Daniel and Micah of Audubon PA; and brothers Thomas Mathew, wife Mary of Toronto, Canada and George Mathew, late wife Heidi and daughters Geeta and Gina of Toronto, Canada.

A funeral mass will be held in St. Mary's Indian Orthodox Church, 65 Great Rd., Maynard, MA 01754 on Wednesday at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Project Bread/ Walk for Hunger, 145 Border St., East Boston, MA 02128-1903.
