Thelma Tine

Thelma P . Tine , 97 of Reading passed with peace and grace on Sunday November 13, with her family at her side, including her beloved husband of 68 years, Joseph Tine , Jr.

Born in St. John's, New Brunswick, Canada on April 11, 1919, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (Currie) Long.

Thelma was a graduate of Saugus High School and had been a resident of Reading nearly 70 years. Thelma was a retired office clerk from the former American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield and was a longtime organist for the Reading Church of the Nazarene. She had a firecracker personality that lit up the room even in her last days. She loved making people laugh with her unique sayings and witty sense of humor. She will be always remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and whose greatest passion was serving the Lord.

She was the loving mother of Arthur Hudson of Raymond, WA, Patricia A. Durfee of Reading, and the late Richard and Philip Hudson. Thelma was the oldest sister of the late Norma Bonneau, Jean Johnson, George, Russell, and Arthur Long. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 13 great, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Her Funeral Service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday morning, prior to the service, from 10-11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Calvary Christian Church Mission Fund, 47 Grove St., Lynnfield, MA 01940 would be appreciated.
