Theresa M. Ruehrwein, of Wakefield, died at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Oct. 6.

Born in Boston, April 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Curley) McMullen.

Theresa was a graduate of Jerimiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester class of 1949. She had worked for John Hancock Insurance and American Mutual Insurance company as a Rater. She was also a former traffic supervisor for the town of Wakefield. Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family, bingo and traveling. Mrs. Ruehrwein had been a member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks.

She was the wife of John Ruehrwein of 58 years. She was the mother of John Ruehrwein, Jr. and his wife Nanci, James Ruehrwein, Mary Ruehrwein and her partner Douglas Newman, Karen Fabbo and her husband Victor and Debra Ruehrwein all of Wakefield, and Kevin Ruehrwein of Sanford, ME. She was the sister of the late Joseph, Francis, and William McMullen, and Ella Lunney. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Keith Ruehrwein, Ami Wall and husband Troy, Nicole, Bianca, Victoria, and Tina Fabbo, and Stephanie Parady of Sanford, ME, and 1 great granddaughter, Olivia Wall.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A period of visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.

Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
