Thomas Collings

Thomas A. Collings, 65, of Lynnfield died September 24 at the E.N Rogers Veterans Administration Hospital in Bedford after a long and courageous battle with A.L.S.. Born in Boston on January 6, 1947 the son of the late Harold and Agnes T. (Collins) Collings. Mr. Collings was raised in Dorchester and was a graduate of Dorchester High School in 1964 and later attended Newbury Junior College. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He had been employed with the M.B.T.A. and was a member of Local #589, Boston Sand & Gravel Company, Teamsters, Local #379 and had also worked for Tufts University in Medford and was a member S.E.I.U. Mr.Collings was a member of the Wakefield Council #104 Knights of Columbus and was also a member of its Fourth Degree and the Wakefield Lodge of Elks #1276. A veteran, he served with the U.S. Navy during Viet Nam.

Mr. Collings was the beloved husband of Linda J. (Houghton) Collings. He was the loving father of Devin T. Collings, Whitney Leigh Collings and the late Nancy A.Collings. He was also the brother of the late Mary Agnes Conley.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield Friday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church corner of Grove & Salem Sts. Lynnfield at 10:00.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 3-8pm. Interment will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
