Thomas Alfred Crusco, Sr. age 91, of Wakefield died Wednesday, April 20 at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford.
Born in Cambridge on December 6, 1930 he was the son of the late Salvatore and Helen (Collins) Crusco.
Mr. Crusco was a graduate of the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. He had proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a servicemember in the United States Air Force. He then went on to continue a career in service as a member of the Wakefield Fire Department for 37 years. In his retirement years, he volunteered his time at the VA Hospital in Bedford and also did some part-time work for the Wakefield Daily Item. Mr. Crusco was an avid golfer and most enjoyed playing the Patriot Golf Course in Bedford. He also loved attending many local sporting events. He was a member of the Italian American Club, American Legion, and VFW, all of Wakefield. He enjoyed summers spent in York Beach, Maine in the home he and his wife built together.
He was the beloved husband of Dorothy I. (Salucco) Crusco. He was the loving father of Thomas A. Crusco, Jr. of Wakefield, Steven J. Crusco and his wife Charlene of Winchester, and Sheila M. Crusco of Reading. He was the brother of the late John Crusco, Dorothy Kruse, and Catherine Buglione. He was the cherished grandfather of Michael Crusco, Nicholas Crusco, and Thomas Crusco III.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield on Tuesday, April 26 at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday April 25 from 4-7pm. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
