Thomasine Connelly

Thomasine "May" Connelly , 86, of Wakefield died on Monday, February 8 at her home, surrounded by her family after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in Quincy on May 5, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Agnes (McLeod) Wallace.

Mrs. Connelly was a graduate of Boston University Business School. She had worked as a secretary at the Fargo Building in Boston during World War II.

Mrs. Connelly was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church in Wakefield; a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 63, Wakefield; past president of the VFW Auxiliary 2394, Melrose; and a life member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary 2106 Wakefield. She was also a member of the Wakefield Historical Society and the Wellfleet Historical Society. She was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. She enjoyed knitting, rug hooking, cooking, traveling and bird watching.

Mrs. Connelly was the wife of the late Richard J. Connelly . She was the mother of Kathryn A. Connelly of Peabody, Richard E. Connelly of Wakefield, Edward J. Connelly of Marion and Ann E. Montgomery and her husband Dana of Wakefield. She was the sister of the late Walter Wallace. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Kathryn and John Montgomery and her feline companion Maggie.

A funeral service will be held at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Friday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may call at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. IntermentForest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
