Valmore J. Cantin, 93, of Wakefield died Thursday, November 26.
Born in Victoriaville, Canada on April 25, 1916 he was the son of the late Phillip and Margaret (Brindle) Cantin.
Mr. Cantin had been a Wakefield resident for the past 58 years. He had retired from the Revere Sugar Company in Charlestown and had also worked for the MDC in Stoneham in the maintenance department.
Mr. Cantin was the husband of the late Papulena Mary (Pinto) Cantin.
Father of the late John J. DiMeglio. Grandfather of John and Marie DiMeglio of Wakefield, Christine DiMeglio and Christopher Kuell of Danbury, CT, Stephen and Dianne Helen DiMeglio of Atkinson, NH, Michael and Karen DiMeglio of Lynn and Dianne DiMeglio of Medford. Also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Cantin was predeceased by his two sisters; Dolores Simms and Frances Martens.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave, Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends may call at the Funeral Home on Monday from 6-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
