Vartkis Edward Parsikian , 85, passed Wednesday April 8th in Reading after a brief period of failing health.
Born in Boston on April 28, 1934, he was the son of the late George and Eliza (Paghtigian) Parsikian .
Vartkis
was raised in Watertown, Mass and graduated from Watertown High School in 1952. After graduation he began work at the Raytheon Company where he worked for 40 years until his retirement in 1992. He was married to his wife Dottie in September 1956 and was drafted by the United States
Army in February 1957. He served with honor for two years in Germany and was discharged in February 1959. Vartkis' first daughter, Joanne, was born in 1958 while he was serving abroad and second daughter, Denise, was born in 1961. The couple bought their first home in Belmont in 1960 where they resided and raised their family for 33 years. In 1993
Vartkis
and Dottie fulfilled their dream of moving to West Palm Beach Florida where they resided for several years.
Vartkis was exceedingly proud of his Armenian heritage and family. In his younger years he was an active member of Saint James Armenian Apostolic Church in Watertown where he served on their parish council, men's club and bazaar committee. He took pride in everything his children, grandchildren and great children did and never missed an opportunity to attend any of their events. He was a man of great honor and integrity and his most cherished moments in life were any time spent with family.

was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Dorothy (Maranian)
Parsikian
. He was the loving father of Joanne E. Tashjian and husband Greg of Stoneham and Denise A. Molloy and husband James of Middleton. He was the brother of the late Isabel Nahabedian. He was the cherished grandfather of
Christopher Tashjian and wife Kim, Joy Bethune and husband Michael and Noel Talanian and husband Christopher. He was also the proud great grandfather of Talia, Zack, Mya, Morgan, Celina, Mila and Charlie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends and Predeceased by many brothers and sisters in law.
Due to the current social challenges, there will be a private family graveside service held at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown, MA. The family kindly requests no Flowers.
