Vaughn Charles Zulalian (Vahan) of Lynnfield, born March 11, 1923, was the son of the late Enofk and Rose (Donabedian) Zulalian . He passed away peacefully at home in the early morning surrounded by his loving family.
Raised in Revere, Mr. Zulalian served in the Navy during World War II as an Aviation Electrician's mate. During this time, he and his sister gave their father a donkey as a gift; they named her Marianna after the recapture of the Marianna Islands. Many residents of Revere still remember the donkey that lived on North Shore Road.
Upon his return, Mr. Zulalian graduated from Tufts University with a degree in electrical engineering. His lifetime career began as a field engineer for Boston Edison Co. Later, Boston Edison Co. selected him to continue his studies at Harvard Business School. He enjoyed a long career at Boston Edison, which culminated with him being the Assistant Superintendent of Electric and System Operations. He salvaged old Edison instruments as they were being replaced. His interest in out of service equipment resulted in a collection of memorabilia for the company.
Mr. Zulalian married the love of his life, Betty Sue (Sandy), and they moved to Lynnfield. There, they built their home on a lot on the former Gerry's Cider Mill. Vaughn enjoyed gardening and pressing cider from Baldwin apple trees. Vaughn , aka Mr. "Z", enjoyed the light-hearted side of life. He had many interests and hobbies, and he was an avid Boston Sports fan. He never hesitated to drop what he was doing to help others.
He was lovingly devoted to his family. He is survived by his daughter Lia Zulalian-Moynihan and son-in-law David Moynihan of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, his daughter Ilene Zulalian-Nusblatt and son-in-law Jay Nusblatt, and granddaughter Ava Rose Nusblatt of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and his two kitties, who will miss him dearly.
