Vera Barter , age 93, of Boston died Monday, December 12 at Oosterman's Rest Home in Wakefield.
Born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia on June 24, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Pavle and Katerina (Zagic) Cosic.
Mrs. Barter was raised and educated in Yugoslavia before moving to the US in 1959. She traveled the world before settling in Boston and had worked in Yugoslavia for many years as an energy consultant between the US and Yugoslavian governments. Mrs. Barter negotiated out of country contracts for Converse sneakers in Yugoslavia; and throughout her career, worked closely with Henry Kissinger, Pierre Salinger and Tito, the President of Yugoslavia.
She was the loving mother of Vera Barter and husband Peter of Weare, NH, formerly of Lynnfield, and the adoring grandmother of Tania, Cassandra, Michael and Marissa. She is also survived by four great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
