Virginia Duncan

Virginia M. Duncan, 87, of Wakefield, died Tuesday December 31 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Worcester on March 13, 1926 she was the daughter of Edwin and Blanche (Thivierge) Parslow.

Mrs. Duncan was a graduate of Worcester Commerce High School, Class of 1944. She later went on to attend Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1947. She was a retired registered nurse and had worked at many local hospitals, including Worcester City Hospital, Mt. Auburn Hospital, and Lynn Union Hospital. She had been a Wakefield resident since 1950 and was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Mrs. Duncan volunteered for many organizations, including Cub Scouts Den-Mother, Campfire Girl Leader, Wakefield Public Schools and the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Duncan was the wife of the late Gordon T. Duncan. She was the mother of Gordon Duncan, Jr. and his wife Phyllis of Worcester, Steven Duncan and his wife Valerie of Topsfield, David Duncan and his wife Mary of Wakefield and Lori Wright and her husband John of Lexington. She was the sister of the late Edwin Parslow. She was the grandmother of Scott, Christopher, Andrew, Ashley, Lindsey and John.

A funeral service will be held in the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5 Bryant St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
