Virginia Minichiello

Virginia Pauline Minichiello (White), longtime resident of Lynnfield, MA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 28, 2018. She was 95 years old. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, "Gammy" cooked a perfect lasagna, had a fondness for Whitman's Samplers, and was an avid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots (especially when Bill Parcells was in charge). Trips to Tanglewood and Symphony Hall made her smile, as did watching the horses at Suffolk Downs. Born in Lynn, Virginia graduated from St. Mary's Girls High School, an achievement of which she remained quite proud throughout her life. She also earned a Secretarial Degree from Burdett College. She put her education to good use, first working for General Electric, and then rising to the position of manager during a long tenure at Poly Paks, an electronics mail order company. Later, she managed the micrographics department at Digital Equipment Corporation. Virginia was a treasured member of the Lynnfield community, and had many roles within the town. She served as an election volunteer, was a parishioner at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, and worked at both the Department of Public Works and the School Department. During her long, healthy life she enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners at her home on Perry Avenue, routinely packing ten people around a table meant for six. Virginia is pre-deceased by her beloved son, Peter Minichiello, as well as her former husband, Raymond Minichiello. She is survived by daughters Paula (Mark) Granofsky, Anita (Leonard) Wos, and Lisa (Bob) Folsom; grandchildren Burton (Natalia), Adam, Sarah (Michael), and Frederick (Rachel); and great-grandchildren Andres, Celia, Lucia, and Joseph.

Services to be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 2, at McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Avenue, Wakefield. Burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
