Virginia Purrington

Virginia R. Purrington , 88, of South Dennis, formerly of Wakefield, died on Thursday August 21 at the Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehab Center in Brewster.

Born in Melrose on November 17, 1925 she was the daughter of Clifford B. and Madge V. (Millar) Russell . Mrs. Purrington was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1943. She was a retired cafeteria worker at Wakefield High School.

Mrs. Purrington was the beloved wife of the late John S. Purrington . Mother of the late Dana R. Purrington . She is survived by her two sons, Wendell S. Purrington of York, ME, and Stephen A. Purrington and his wife Teresa of Wakefield, and her daughter Lisa J. Colucci and her husband Paul of Dennis; her sister Loureen Ramsdell and her brother A. Brooks Russell , both of Wakefield, her daughter-in-law Elaine K. Purrington of Wakefield and her 7 grandchildren: Christine Nelson, Kate Todisco, Sarah Augustyniak, Annie Dodge, Stephen Colucci, Andrew Colucci and Brian Colucci. Mrs. Purrington is also survived by her 8 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Malcolm L. Russell .

A funeral service will be held in the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Tuesday at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Monday from 4-8pm. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
