Walter Currant

Walter L . Currant , 92, of Wakefield formerly of Everett died on Saturday, October 5 at the Chelsea Soldiers Home.

Mr. Currant was born in Medford, MA on December 28, 1921. He was the son of the late Walter I. and Margaret C. (Denmark) Currant .

Mr. Currant was raised in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He became a long time Everett resident. Mr. Currant served in the Navy during both WWII and Korea and he later retired as a butcher from Swift and Company of Boston. He was also a member of the Shriners Masonic Lodge of Malden and a lifetime boy scout for seventy-five years.

Mr. Currant was the beloved husband of the late Jane (Oberlander). He was the loving father of Donna McDonough and husband Martin of Windham, NH, Walter L . Currant Jr. of Everett, Phil J. Currant and Cindy of Wakefield, Jane Newbegin and Rich of Wakefield. He was the loving Grandfather of Melanie, Greg, Stephanie, Philip, Ashley, and Kaitlyn. He was the great grandfather of Gabriella and Anthony. He was the brother of Ruth Lucey of Wakefield, NH, Eleanor of Philadelphia and the late John Currant , Margaret, Dorothy and Patricia.

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 10am followed by a Graveside Service at the Glenwood Cemetery in Everett at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Chelsea Soldiers' Home, c/o Rec. Dept. 91 Crest Ave, Chelsea, MA 02150. .
