Warren Whiting

Warren L . "Pete" Whiting , 82, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Wakefield, died on Sunday, July 7 at his home.
Born in Everett on December 16, 1930 he was the son of the late John W. and Grace (Mahoney) Whiting .
The family moved to Wakefield and Pete attended the local public schools and established himself as an excellent student. At Wakefield High School, Pete was captain of the baseball and hockey teams both his junior and senior years. He was named to the Eastern Mass All Star hockey team his senior year. He enlisted in the navy after high school and was first in his class in Aviation Photography School. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Peter went to Boston University where he played for the hockey team and played in the 2nd Beanpot Tournament. Before his retirement he had worked as a manager at the former well known New England Oyster House on Rte. 1 in Saugus.
Pete married the love of his life, Marion Hickey, on April 16th, 1955. He always said that she was the best thing that ever happened to him. They had five children together and enjoyed a wonderful family life. Pete was totally devoted to his family and always put the family before himself. He was the best husband and father anyone could ever hope for. He will be terribly missed.
Pete was the husband of Marion (Hickey) Whiting . He was the father of Peter Whiting of Geneva, Switzerland, Mark Whiting of Hampton, NH, Paula Creighton of South Dartmouth, Patti Whiting-Daswani of North Hampton, NH, and Martha Whiting of Hampton, NH. He was the brother of Chester Whiting of PA, Nancy Taylor of Danvers, Joyce Maher of Wakefield and the late Shirley Barrett, and Joan Moore. He was the grandfather of Alex, Lauren, Anand, Andrew, Emmie, Margaux, and Warren .

His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by Funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
