William Stewart

William A . Stewart , 87, of North Reading and formerly Wakefield, died Saturday September 15 at the Meadowview Nursing and Rehabilitation center in North Reading.

Born in Newberry, South Carolina, on June 11, 1925 he was the son of the late Curtis and Anna Leigha (Thacker) Stewart .

Mr. Stewart was raised and educated in Greenville, S.C. and moved to the Wakefield area in 1947. William had served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a retired postal worker out of Reading and was a past Exalted Ruler of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks.

Mr. Stewart was the husband of Iola (Sava) Stewart . He was the father of Terry Stewart and his wife Ellen of North Andover. He is also survived by his grandchildren Gregory and Laura and also six great-grandchildren.

A period of visitation for family and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. Wakefield, on Tuesday from 4 – 7 P.M. Funeral service will be private.
