William John Bennett, 93 of Stoneham died Sunday, January 25 at the Epoch Senior Health Care of Melrose.
Born in Lincoln on July 12, 1915 he was the son of the late William and Ellen (Flood) Bennett.
Mr. Bennett was raised in Dover and Waltham and had been a Stoneham resident since 1945. He had served in the United State Army during World War II in the 3rd Battalion, 424th Infantry Regiment, 106th Infantry Division. Mr. Bennett had retired from Railway Express in Waltham.
Mr. Bennett was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Tenney) Bennett, loving father of Ellen Demers & husband Stephen of Arlington, William J. Bennett of So. Dennis, Phillip Bennett & wife Nikki of Brewster, Kathleen Minghella & husband Allen, John Bennett & wife Yvonne all of Stoneham and the late Jane Bennett. Grandfather of Nathan, Allen, Michael, Jeffrey, Eric, Katy, William and Kelly. Great Grandfather of Kylie, Paige, Dominic and Lucas. Brother of the late Alice Tagan.
Funeral from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main St, Stoneham, Thursday at 9AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St, Stoneham at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
