William L. "Bill" Diamond, 75, of Wakefield died on Monday, January 13 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 3, 1939 he was the son of the late Lawrence J. and Johanna (O'Keefe) Diamond.
Bill was a graduate of St. Joseph Prep School in Pennsylvania and the University of Pennsylvania. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era and was a writer in the Newspaper Industry.
Bill was a political activist in the Democratic Party and active in Veteran Groups. He was also a proud member of the Wakefield Democratic Town Committee. Bill was a member of Mensa and enjoyed photography, gardening, reading, classical music and cooking.
He was the beloved husband of Anne Marie Mitchell and brother of the late Thomas J. Diamond and Barbara M. Moore. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, close friends and his beloved golden retriever Honey Fitz.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o'clock. A visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4 – 7 p.m.
