William "Bill" Elwell, 49, of Wakefield died unexpectedly on March 9, 2016.
Born in Syosset, New York on June 7, 1966, he was the son of William Elwell, Jr of New York and Andrea (Gaffney) Scott and her husband David of Florida.
In addition to his parents, Bill is survived by his loving wife Janet (Kelliher) Elwell, his two sons; Scott and Matthew Elwell, his brother Brian Falb and his wife Mary of New York, his brother-in-law Paul Kelliher and his wife Linnea of Wakefield, his father and mother-in-law Richard and Joan Kelliher, of Wakefield, formerly of Melrose, and his nieces and nephews; Morgan, Peyton, Sydney, and Brian Falb and Allida and Alexa Kelliher. Bill is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bill was raised in Long Island, New York and was a graduate of Sachem High School, Class of 1984 and the University of Maine at Orono, Class of 1989 - where he met his wife, Janet. He permanently moved to Massachusetts after graduating college. Bill had worked for Sprint in Burlington as a Regional Account Manager for the last 16 years and had fond memories of his past employment at John Accardi & Sons in Medford. During his college years he worked as an athletic trainer for the University of Maine hockey and football programs. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Wakefield.
Bill was heavily invested in Wakefield youth sports and had coached both Little League and lacrosse. He was involved in youth hockey, as well as, Pop Warner football where he was nominated as "Team Mom," and was well-known for making a mean jambalaya.
A Funeral Service will be held at the First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Wakefield on Saturday at 11am. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Friday from 3-8pm. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
