WILLIAM LEACH, 88, of Wakefield, Mass. passed away at his home on April 12.
Born on May 21, 1923 in Fall River, Bill graduated from Lynn Classical High School and served the country in the Civilian Conservation Corps before joining the 4th Marine Division in WWII. He survived the front-lines of campaigns in Roi-Namur, Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima. After the war, he married his high school sweetheart Greta Jordan, and became a stalwart member of the Wakefield community; hosting raucous parties with The Quannapowitt Players, often plowing out his many Greenwood neighbors, and cultivating a thriving garden and backyard. He worked for four decades in R&D and purchasing at GTE Sylvania.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Greta, and his daughters Roxanne Sayce, Kristin Leach and Gretta Jordan, granddaughters Diane Leach and Megan Boyaval, and great-granddaughter Ruby Boyaval. He was the 5th of 6 brothers and joins his parents, Elizabeth and George Leach, and his sons Dana Leach and Dirk Jordan Leach.
The family will hold a private memorial.
