Winifred "Dede" (Manley) Day, 84, died June 19th after struggling with Alzheimer's disease for the last few years of her life. She would have celebrated her 85th birthday on July 23rd. She was the only child of Winifred (Neiss) and Francis Manley.
She was born and raised in Wakefield, but lived in Boston for the majority of her life where she attended business school and was employed by Sherburne, Powers & Needham (now known as Holland & Knight). She retired in 1995 after over 45 years of dedicated service to the firm managing and mentoring young professionals who remained her friends for all of her life. She also lived in Montreal and Costa Rica for periods of time and traveled to many other countries prior to her retirement.
Dede enjoyed dining at Boston's finest restaurants and became a confidant and friend of many of the bartenders, waiters and waitresses who served her. Along with her friends from the law firm, they, too, became her "family" and she cherished their friendships.
She is survived by cousins in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New York, as well as her large circle of friends who will miss her dearly.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 13th, at Our Lady of Victories Church, 27 Isabella Street, Back Bay, Boston, MA. All friends are welcomed. Burial in Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield, MA will be private.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield, MA
