Winifred Ledoux

Winifred Helen "Winkie" Ledoux , age 81, of Wakefield, formerly of Stoneham, died Thursday, August 31 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.

Born in Melrose on May 29, 1936 she was the daughter of the late Frederick H . and Helen E. (Logan) Abbott.

Winkie was raised in Stoneham and was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1953. She loved her family and her friends, and especially enjoyed Christmas when she was able to celebrate amongst her family, to which she was a Matriarch. She had worked as an office manager at Reading Internal Medicine from where she retired. Winkie was a longstanding member of St. Florence Church in Wakefield where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.

She was the beloved wife of the late Michael Ledoux . She was the loving mother of Michael Ledoux of New York and Kathy H . Ledoux-Walsh and her husband Sean Walsh of Wakefield. She was the adoring grandmother of Mikayla Ledoux-Walsh and the late Kelly Ledoux-Walsh. She was the sister of William E. Abbott and his wife Janice of Stoneham and Betty M. Courtenay of Wakefield. She is also survived by sister-in-law Joan N. Logue; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10am. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Monday from 12-3pm.
